Birch Ply and multicoloured straws. Undergrad project during sculpture 150 with Meagan Dickie, 2014.
Orb Vision shows you the shape of your own sight. The visible channel through the body of the box relates to each viewers position in space. The box reveals a specifically shaped passage of light that corresponds with the shape of your vision -an imprint of ones perception. Each person sees the phenomenon of their existence. Orb Vision is a three dimensional object that is a window only within the confines of an expanding cone shape, beginning at each open end and extending outward. Outside the boundaries of this shape, it is a barrier to vision.
Whether the shape of one’s vision is unique to you remains a mystery, as one’s personal interaction with the work is not possible to document without using a camera. Photographing the line of sight with a camera merely illustrates the ‘sight’ of the lens, and never that of the human eye behind it.
